Brief

ClinicalSkills.net is used by more than 100 NHS trusts, as well as a wide range of universities, private healthcare companies, care homes and training organisations in the UK and Ireland. It offers comprehensive online educational resources to support training and best practice in clinical skills and patient care, all written by specialist authors and editors.

In 2018, Connectus was engaged to provide online training and cybersecurity services as well as GDPR compliance guidance. At that time, the ClinicalSkills.net platform had recorded up 20,000 users on its site each month.

The world-changing events of early 2020 have seen a significant increase in the demands being placed on ClinicalSkills.net resources and as such the Connectus cybersecurity team were on hand to advise and assist.

Solution

Connectus provided a Virtual Data Protection Officer and processed NHS and university compliance applications on their behalf, liaising with senior stakeholders at client companies to arrive at the best solution.

Connectus also successfully guided ClinicalSkills.net through Cyber Essentials certification and IASME governance, and registered the company as a safe service provider, in accordance with the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit supplier register.

Working with the company’s existing IT development company, Connectus tightened security across the platform and provided training to staff to improve data security and privacy for the business.

Connectus also provided penetration testing and ensured comprehensive and actionable reports were provided to ClinicalSkills.net and client companies.

Outcome

Connectus has now taken over management and delivery of the operational platform in order to provide services to customers and to ensure its cybersecurity exceeds expectations.

In addition to ongoing maintenance of Cyber Essentials, IASME and NHS DSPT certifications, Connectus will provide further development work on their behalf to integrate the system into an identity provider platform used by many companies and organisations in the healthcare sector.

Doncaster Council

Connectus was on hand to meet the needs of local, regional and national government during the first weeks of the UK’s Covid-19 lockdown.

Doncaster Council’s Councillor Nick Allen (above left), who represents the town’s Bessacarr ward, said:

Cllr Allen joined the Connectus family of clients at the start of 2020, working from his office on the Doncaster Sheffield Airport business park. When government advice made it clear everyone should work from home wherever possible, Connectus were there to provide a 4G wifi router, which allowed him to keep up with his vitally important government work.

Cllr Allen – who also works as Senior Caseworker for Nick Fletcher, the Member of Parliament for Don Valley (above right) – explained:

The Athlete Factory

Connectus ingenuity ensures 60 countries view tournament

International rugby 7s enjoys a huge following worldwide, and with teams such as England, South Africa, Ireland, France and the USA all taking part at the Athlete Factory international 7s tournament in Chester, a US production team wanted to film and stream the tournament worldwide.   

Former British Lion and Managing Director of The Athlete Factory, Phil Greening was tasked with securing a robust and secure internet connection to ensure the live streaming of all games and interviews to a worldwide audience of over 500,000 viewers. 

“At first, we were told there was no way it could be done. The tournament was to be  filmed and streamed globally by a US company, and they needed everything in place to be able to deliver the production.”

With training well underway, the teams, hotels, flights and local transportation all booked,  it was essential the technical challenges be resolved quickly, ensuring a quality production could be streamed in real-time to the hundreds of thousands of viewers worldwide.

The Athlete Factory, which is a world-class training and coaching facility, decided to engage Connectus to see if they could resolve the broadcasting challenges.

On reviewing infrastructure, Connectus designed and deployed a robust gigabit-capable point to point link and business broadband service all within 48 hours of the order being received. This provided the necessary platform for the US broadcaster to stream live from the event.

NA Legal is a solicitors practice providing business law services based in Armstrong House near Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster.

The firm has seen great success over the course of the year and needed to expand to keep up with customer demand, so decided to open a second office in the business centre.

The company required telephony installation and broadband connectivity to ensure a continued effective communications process for all customers, staff and stakeholders.

Solution

After opening their new office, NA Legal contacted Connectus to visit and perform a site survey to assess the facilities to advise on what telephony system would work best and where the broadband would best be installed.

Bubble Max Ltd, a newly created company specialising in the manufacturing and the supply of bubble wrap bags to large corporations across the UK, has set up its operation on the Sky Park in Doncaster near Robin Hood Airport.

The company has moved into a recently constructed unit and had a blank canvas to work with.

To get the business up and running, Bubble Max needed Business Connectivity, WiFi and a VoIP Telephony system to aid communication for all office staff.

As the sole provider of connectivity across the Doncaster Airport Business Parks, owned by Peel, Connectus was contacted to add Bubble Max to their network.

Solution

After moving into the new premises on June 1st this year, Bubble Max asked Connectus to come and assess the facilities and told them exactly what they required, to ensure the business worked at its optimum level.

The Connectus Engineers arrived at Bubble Max to install Connectivity Solutions including superfast Full Fibre Broadband and VoIP telephones into the Bubble Max office space.

Just two days later the installation was complete, and Bubble Max was now able to start communicating with customers, potential customers, staff and other stakeholders at the click of a button.

The renowned agency needs to be at the forefront of digital marketing advances and in order for them to continue doing so, they needed to upgrade their current internet connection and speed it up significantly.

Solution

The Connectus team met with the Talk To Media key decision makers and introduced them to the BDUK Voucher Scheme currently running for SMEs across the UK. The scheme provides organisations with a grant of up to £3,000 which can be used towards the installation of a superfast broadband connection.

With Talk To Media being based on one of the business parks where Connectus has built and operate a full fibre network allows, Connectus to provide connectivity services for all businesses within the location.
