Connectus reaffirms commitment to Doncaster Sheffield Airport as redevelopment takes lift off

Connectus Business Solutions has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the redevelopment of Doncaster Sheffield Airport following the release of new images showcasing the design of the airport’s future terminal building.
The managed services provider has been involved with the airport for more than 17 years, having designed and built the full-fibre network that serves the airport and surrounding commercial developments.
Its relationship with the site spans the airport’s entire commercial history, from its opening as Robin Hood Airport through to its closure in 2022 and the ongoing work to bring commercial flights back to Doncaster.
Roy Shelton, CEO of Connectus Business Solutions, welcomed the latest milestone in the airport’s redevelopment journey.
He said: “The release of the terminal images is another positive step forward for Doncaster Sheffield Airport and provides an exciting glimpse of what the future holds for the site.
“We have been proud to support the airport and the wider business park for almost two decades and remain fully committed to helping create the resilient digital infrastructure needed to support future growth. Our attendance at the meet the buyer event held buy Business Doncaster which was well attended by so many local suppliers who can also play a huge part in delivering on the airport’s exciting vision”
Earlier this year, Connectus announced a further £500,000 investment in the airport business park, focused on enhancing connectivity resilience, deploying renewable and alternative power solutions, and introducing AI-powered diagnostics through its partnership with Kaseya.
Over the years, the company has delivered a comprehensive range of managed services to the airport, including connectivity, WiFi, telephony, CCTV, door entry systems and IT infrastructure, helping to support the day-to-day operation of the site.
Connectus has also continued to invest in the surrounding Gateway East Airport Business Park development, contributing more than £1 million towards digital infrastructure that enables 100s of businesses across the site to access gigabit-capable full-fibre connectivity and access the enhanced IT , cloud and cyber security managed services provided by Connectus.
Following the airport’s closure in 2022, the company remained actively involved in efforts to secure its future alongside local stakeholders, businesses and public sector partners.
With redevelopment work continuing and flights expected to resume in 2028, Connectus says it remains committed to supporting the airport’s long-term success and helping businesses capitalise on the opportunities created by its return.
