Connectus Proud to Host Evening with Lions Legend Sir Ian McGeechan OBE in Aid of Prostate Cancer Research

2nd September 2026

Connectus is thrilled to announce a very special evening in support of Prostate Cancer Research: an intimate three-course dinner and live interview with British & Irish Lions legend Sir Ian McGeechan OBE, taking place on Thursday 1 October at Hotel Wrexham.

We’re proud to be bringing together around 50 hand-selected guests for what promises to be an unforgettable night a rare chance to hear directly from one of the true greats of world rugby, while raising vital funds for a cause that touches so many lives.

A Living Legend of the Lions

Known affectionately to friends as “Geech,” Sir Ian McGeechan is a genuine icon of British and Irish rugby. He served as Head Coach of the legendary British & Irish Lions across four tours between 1989 and 2009, and holds the unique distinction of being the only person in Lions history to have achieved success as both a player and a coach. Guests will have the rare opportunity to hear his stories and insights first-hand, in a frank and honest on-stage interview conducted by our close friend Nick Owen, Managing Director of Magnify PR.

An Evening for a Great Cause

This event is free to attend, with every penny raised on the night going directly to Prostate Cancer Research. Connectus is proud to be covering all event costs, made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, including Brigantia ,  Heimdal Security, Glu Digital and DropJaw Ventures meaning guests can enjoy the evening safe in the knowledge that their generosity goes entirely to charity.

Throughout the evening, guests can look forward to:

  • A raffle featuring a superb range of prizes, including a bottle of champagne from DropJaw Ventures, the official British & Irish Lions 2025 Squad signed and framed poster print donated by Connectus, a £50 meal voucher from The Rake and Pikel, a dinner, bed and breakfast stay near Oswestry courtesy of Inglenook Inns, and a surprise prize at Stixx, donated by Kingdom Thenga
